Ian Reid
HR Committee Chair
Career Summary
Ian joined R. Angus Alberta Limited, the Caterpillar distributor for Alberta, in 1977. He held a number of senior sales and management positions until the company was sold to Finning International Inc. At Finning, he advanced his career in Western Canada and then in the United Kingdom where he was Regional Manager for England and Wales. Ian returned to Vancouver in 1995 as Vice President, Operations for Finning (Canada), and became President in November 1997, retiring from that position in 2008.
Ian has served on several boards, including Junior Achievement, Edmonton Economic Development, Alberta Chamber of Resources, Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Stuart Olson Inc., Voice Construction, Flint Energy Services, and Delta Gold Corporation. He is a Past Chair of the Board of Governors of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). He has also served as a member of the Provincial Audit Committee (Alberta). Ian currently serves on the boards of Canadian Western Bank, OceanGold Corporation, and Associated Engineering.
Ian supports many charities and has accepted many leadership roles with the United Way Alberta Capital Region, including Chair of the Campaign Cabinet in 2001. Ian was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal “for outstanding service to the people and province of Alberta” and named one of Alberta’s “50 most influential…” by Alberta Venture magazine.
