Have the mechanic actually look into why I brought my cat in, in the first place. He was also not very friendly.

Hi David, Thank you for your feedback. As discussed during our call, the fuel smell issue that you had originally brought the vehicle in for was caused by the misfire which we had found due to the check engine light code and inspecting the spark plugs themselves. The correlation may have not been thoroughly communicated to you during the update phone call with our associate so I do apologise. Communication is something we are continuously working on to improve and your commentary is appreciated.
